Childbirth Trauma
Do you struggle with:
-
Upsetting memories and feelings
-
Irritability and feeling edgy
-
Troubled sleep
-
Feeling different from other moms
-
Growing distance with those closest to you
Childbirth trauma is real
At a time when vulnerability is at its highest, when hopes are at a peak, something can happen that changes everything. What was supposed to be a time of celebration has become marked by pain , fear, and feeling alone. These experiences are not always life and death situations. Difficulties can arise in seemingly “normal” pregnancies.
Like other traumas, these upsetting experiences are often disruptive. Unnerving moments may play like unwelcome tapes, making it difficult to stay positive. You may feel emotionally raw and edgy. Things that used to be minor annoyances now seem bigger and harder to handle.
Of course, this impacts relationships. Perhaps you feel a growing distance with the people who are closest to you. One client resented her husband. While she was struggling, her husband seemed worry free and able to enjoy their baby. Another client had a hard time being around her infant. Even though she could see the child was not at fault, the baby was a constant trigger, reminding her of what she had been through.
You do not have to face this alone.
I help women work through their birth trauma, softening the pain and creating new meanings around the experience. Learn to channel your feelings in safe ways so you can process through whatever emotions surface. Address underlying messages that make it easier to be compassionate towards yourself. With the help of a special trauma treatment, even the stress on the mind and body can be relieved. Together we can address this struggle so the past does not keep you from moving forward.
